如夢令昨夜雨疏風驟英文
"Ru Meng Ling" is a famous Chinese poem written by Li Qingzhao, a prominent female poet from the Song Dynasty. The poem begins with the lines:
昨夜雨疏風驟,濃睡不消殘酒。 試問捲簾人,卻道海棠依舊。 知否?知否?應是綠肥紅瘦。
In English, this can be translated as:
Last night, the rain was light, the wind fierce, Deep sleep did not dispel the effects of leftover wine. I ask the one rolling up the curtains, Who says the begonia still looks the same. Do you know? Do you know? It should be green leaves flourishing, red flowers thinning.
This translation captures the essence of the poem, which reflects on the fleeting nature of beauty and the passage of time, using the imagery of a begonia flower affected by the night's weather.
